Can You Fly With A Vape Pen To Zimbabwe? Here’s What You Need To Know

Contents
Can you bring your vape pen with you to Zimbabwe? Here are the flight rules, what we know about local laws, and how to fly safely with a vape pen.

Can You Fly With a Vape Pen To Zimbabwe?
Vaping in the Air
Yes, you can fly with a vape pen, as long as it travels in your carry-on bag or on your person.
What you can't do is use it. Vaping is banned on commercial flights, and you also can't charge your vape on board.
What You Can Bring Along
The TSA allows vapes only in carry-on bags, with lithium ion batteries of 100 Wh or less. Spare batteries must also go in your carry-on, with the terminals covered.
Nicotine e-liquid is allowed in the cabin. Bottles must be 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less and go in your quart-sized liquids bag.
Never pack cannabis or THC products.
Allowed In Checked Luggage?
No. Vapes and spare lithium batteries are banned from checked luggage, because they are a fire risk in the cargo hold.
The same rule applies on international flights. If your carry-on is checked at the gate, take your vape and spare batteries out and keep them with you.

Are Vape Pens Illegal in Zimbabwe?
Vaporizing Devices and Laws
We could not find a law in Zimbabwe that bans or specifically regulates e-cigarettes.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids' legal database has no e-cigarette rules on file for Zimbabwe. That record has not been updated since 2019.
No law on file does not mean anything goes. Laws change, so check with the Zimbabwe embassy or your airline before you travel.
Public Use Regulations
Zimbabwe is a party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, and local authorities or businesses may not allow vaping in some places.
Be discreet, avoid vaping indoors or in crowds, and ask before you vape in hotels, restaurants or taxis.
Age Restrictions
We could not confirm a vape-specific minimum age in Zimbabwe.
Vapes are for adults only. In the US, federal law bans selling e-cigarettes to anyone under 21.

Tips for Bringing a Vape Pen on a Plane
With a bit of preparation, flying with a vape pen is simple. Here are some tips:
- Check the Rules Before You Fly: Check the TSA rules and your airline's policy. Airlines can add their own limits, such as how many devices you can carry.
Also check the rules for any country where you change planes.
- Keep Your Device Securely Stored: Keep your vape in a case, switched off or locked, so the button can't be pressed in your bag. Store spare batteries in a battery case.
- Know That You Can't Vape Onboard: There are no vaping areas on commercial flights. Wait until you are off the plane and in a place where vaping is allowed.
